Dining Chairs

Chairs that match the table, the meal and the way your family eats.

A dining chair is on duty more often than any other piece of furniture in a household. We design each set around the height of your tabletop, the width of the seat your floor can spare, and whether you serve dinner at six or at nine.

Bespoke teak dining chairs around a solid wood table
Chair families

Six starting forms.

  • Side chair — armless, light, easy to tuck under a 75cm table.
  • Carver — armed chair for the head of the table, usually slightly taller.
  • Spindle back — turned spindles on a curved top rail; works with rustic and refined rooms.
  • Cross back — Italian-inspired profile, slim, ideal for narrow rooms.
  • Curved fully upholstered — modern dining-room piece for hospitality and contemporary residential.
  • Bench seating — single bench or full banquette; works wonderfully on one side of a long table.

Solid teak or oak frame

Visible faces in your choice of solid teak, European oak or American walnut. Concealed cleats in meranti or beech. Mortise-and-tenon throughout.

S

High-density seat fill

40-density foam over webbed seat decks. Holds for years of nightly service; can be re-padded in our workshop if needed.

Drop-in seat pad construction by default — re-cover is fifteen minutes per chair. Fixed-cover dining chairs are also possible.

L

Hospitality-grade options

For restaurant work we add corner-block reinforcement, floor-glide protection and contract-rated fabrics rated to 60,000+ Martindale.

Measure twice

How we size a dining set.

Seat height to table top

We aim for 27–30 cm of clearance between seat top and table edge. Standard chairs are 46–48 cm to the seat; we vary if your table is unusual.

Place width per diner

55–65 cm per place is comfortable for daily use; 70 cm is generous; below 50 cm gets tight. Side chairs without arms need less.

Tuck depth

How deep the chair tucks under the apron when not in use — important for narrow dining rooms and walkway clearance.

Floor protection

Felt glides for hardwood, plastic studs for tile, ball-castors for hospitality. We fit and supply spares in the box.

Consistency across the set

We cut from the same timber stock and dye the same fabric run, so chairs in a set are visibly siblings rather than approximate cousins.

One extra for repair

On commercial commissions we recommend cutting one or two extra chair frames at the same time, ready to dress if a chair is damaged in service.
