Solid wood, every time
We do not build with veneered MDF or particleboard cores. If the spec calls for solid teak, the frame is solid teak — visible faces and hidden cleats alike.
Glintora was founded in 2017 by two cabinetmakers and one upholsterer who had spent the better part of a decade making other people's furniture and wanted, finally, to make their own.
The original studio was a narrow shophouse unit in Damansara Jaya — two workbenches, a band saw, and a kettle that ran from seven in the morning. Our first commission was a single banquette for a friend's coffee bar. Our second was three more banquettes for the bar next door, because the first one was, in their words, "the most comfortable seat in the row".
Word travelled the way word travels in Petaling Jaya — slowly, then suddenly. By the end of 2019 we had grown to six craftspeople and moved into the current workshop on Jalan Industri Damansara Utama 8. We have stayed deliberately small since.

Mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, dowelled — we choose joinery for the load it carries, and reach for screws only where a screw genuinely earns its place.
Every piece passes through the same workshop from frame to finish. Nothing is subcontracted to a production line and then re-badged.
If your timing, budget or fabric pick won't work, we will tell you on the first call rather than the last. It saves everyone a long Tuesday afternoon.
Annual conditioning visits, spare-cushion stock kept on the shelf, fabric records retained for five years — we expect our furniture to outlast its first room.
We let the work travel by word of mouth and let our clients describe it in their own words. We have never spent a ringgit on a roadside billboard.
Our craftspeople have an average of eleven years of upholstery, joinery and finishing experience between Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Yogyakarta. When you commission a piece, you will be introduced by name to the carpenter and the upholsterer who will build it — and if you ask, they will walk you round the bench it is sitting on.
